Toots and The Maytals bring the stomping, skankin' sounds of vintage Jamaican ska to Leeds – with a very special guest in tow.
Legendary Jamaican outfit Toots and The Maytals are back on the road, and they're bringing their irrepressible brand of vintage ska, rocksteady and reggae to Leeds Beckett Students Union. Frontman Toots Hibbert's gritty, soulful howl has been a cornerstone of Jamaican music since the '60s, and his band's rhythm section will have even the most hardened indie kids skanking like their lives depend on it. But the real draw here is the addition of Toots' daughter Leba Hibbert, whose stunning vocals are set to add an extra layer of pure reggae magic to the proceedings. If you need us, we'll be down the front, completely lost in a cloud of marijuana smoke and two-tone revival. Catch the 'X1' bus from Leeds station – it's a 10-minute ride to the venue, and you'll still have change from a tenner for a couple of pints.
