Forget Nirvana karaoke — this is the real deal. The Year Grunge Broke is a full-throttle, flannelette-filled tribute to the era when grunge exploded into the mainstream, complete with gruff vocals, fuzzed-out guitars, and more angsty attitude than a Cobain-penned suicide note. The Sugarmill, Stoke's premier live music venue, will be awash in a sea of undone plaid and tattered denim as this gig takes you back to 1991, when flannel was fresh and teen spirit was in the air. Tickets are a very reasonable £16.50, and the venue is just a short walk from Stoke-on-Trent station — so there's no excuse not to get your grunge on.
