Forget the pretentious posturing of your average Madchester indie landfill — when Goldie Lookin Chain hit the stage at the New Century, it's going to be a delightfully shameless display of puerile humor and beer-soaked swagger. This is the sound of a dozen blokes from Newport who've snuck into the gig, gatecrashed the PA, and are now gleefully taking the piss out of everything in sight. Expect hyperactive beats, absurdist lyrics, and a crowd that'll be up for anything, from a singalong to a light-hearted punch-up. The venue itself is a right old dive — a sweaty, sticky-floored former mill with a sketchy rep, just the kind of place where this lot will be right at home. Getting there's a cinch too, with Deansgate station just a stone's throw away. And at a tenner under a twenty-five, the tickets are a proper bargain. Just don't wear anything you care about.
