When the lads from Bar Italia stride onto the stage of the cozy Academy 3, you know you're in for a proper Northern knees-up. This is the sound of the Haçienda glory days, all raw energy and fuzzed-out guitars, filtered through the smoky, lived-in atmosphere of one of Manchester's best small venues. Expect a full-throttle trip back to the '90s, where the pints are cheap, the crowds are up for it, and you can almost smell the stale cigarette smoke. Academy 3 might be a bit of a trek from Piccadilly station, but trust us — this one's worth the effort.
